MIND AND SUBCONSCIOUS MIND Swami Budhananda in his book “ THE MIND AND ITS CONTROL” says that as Per Hindu psychology, “ Mind is a finer body within his Gross body. The physical body is as it were, only the outer crust of the mind. The Mind being the finer part of the body, the one affects the other. PAIN CONTROL TECHNIQUES The following are the newly adopted techniques for pain control in addition to pharmacological surgical and sensory stimulation techniques. They are a) Relaxation technique. b) Biofeed back technique. c) Hypnosis technique. d) Distraction technique. e) Guided imagery technique and f) Other cognitive techniques. RELAXATION TECHNIQUES: As anxiety increases pain, Relaxation techniques are used to reduce the anxiety of the person who experience pain, which in turn reduces the pain. Shifting of the body into a state of low arousal will give relaxation and this can be achieved through the progressive relaxation of different parts of the body. It is learnt that in United States every year about $100 biliions are spent on pain remedies. twenty million tons of aspirin are consumed Annually by head ache sufferers alone. There are about seven million sufferers of cronic pain. Pain is basically a psychological experience and the degree to which it is felt and how incapacitating it is depends partially on how it is interpreted. Pain bearing capacity depends on the mental power.
